Perforazione profonda a scopo scientifico DIVE (Drilling the Ivrea Verbano ZonE)

Description: 

Sono disponibili attività di tirocinio e tesi magistrali nel contesto del progetto internazionale DIVE (perforazione a scopo scientifico, nella zona di Ivrea-Verbano; Sudalpino occidentale). Le attività includeranno la partecipazione al team scientifico sul sito di perforazione e la caratterizzazione in laboratorio delle carote di roccia ricavate dalle perforazioni.

Petrology of the deep continental crust

Description: 

Few projects are available about sampling and petrographic and chemical analyses of magmatic and metamorphic rocks from Valsesia, Piemonte, which are part of a Permian section of continental crust. The work will include also the interpretation of the geological and petrological processes that occurred in this area and their relations with present-day geologic settings.

Petrology of the metamorphic sequence in Val d'Ossola, Piemonte

Description: 

Description: Field relations and petrological study of the metamorphic sequence of the Mt. Massone antiform, Val d'Ossola, Piemonte: looking for new insights on the geological evolution of the deep continental crust.

Heavy minerals from the flysch basins of Claut and Clauzetto

Description: 

Heavy minerals in sedimentary rocks are important in provenance studies. In the present area there are sandstones with several heavy minerals such as Cr-spinel, garnet, zircon, tourmaline, rutile and so on. Possible thesis will focus on some of these minerals:

  1. ZTR group with chemical and radiometric dating analyses of zircon and rutile and chemical analyses of tourmaline
  2. Garnet, chemical analyses of major and trace element
  3. Spinel, chemical analyses
